What Happened to Dufferin Games

What happened to Dufferin Games? Yes, Dufferin games was a chain retailer that you would typically see in your local mall where you could buy all of your billiard and other gaming supplies. You probably noticed that sometime around 2004 they disappeared. Did Dufferin Games go out of business? Yes, Dufferin Games filed for bankruptcy in Canada in 2004.

Others have claimed that Dufferin has not gone out of business. On a cue sport forum thread I was reading, there was indication that they have moved their operations to Japan. The person claims to have found several websites online in 2005 selling Dufferin cues they say are new 2006 models. I have yet to verify this information.

Another forum poster claims that Cue & Case has purchased Dufferin’s brand name and will be making Dufferin one piece bar cues in China which will be sold at retail in North America. Apparently they wanted to capitalize on Dufferin cue’s excellent reputation. That poster claims “As to the quality of these “New Dufferin cues” I can’t say as I have not seen them yet for testing.

Jim Lucas bought the Dufferin Cues brand in Feb 2005 and plans to continue their production
Apparently they are moving production to China.
That’s (Jim Lucas) that builds and distributes Lucasi and Players cues.

Lucas also owns Cue & Case Sales and moving production to China makes sense.
Dufferin production will be moved alongside Lucasi production in China.

According to a Cue & Case Sales Rep, they will be buying all materials here in the US and shipping it to China to assemble.

According to Fast Larry (Larry Guninger)

The Dufferin was a fine Canadian cue, the Lucasi people, Jim Lucas, Lucas add an I and its Lucasi, cue and case in Jax, bought out dufferin and these cues will now be chinese which will be a big drop in the quality of the wood used.

Dufferin went under, cue case picks it up, bring in cheaper cues from china and you think you are getting the old canadian hard rock maple stuff. This just happened, breaking news. It’s very depressing news to me dude.

I’m looking for a spare red player which has made my Dufferin foosball table desolate. Anyone know of any post-Dufferin-Games dealers?

I am not happy about this news. Way back on April 7, 2000, I had ordered a Dufferin pool table from them but they didn’t make that model anymore.

They still have my $100 deposit that I would like to get back.

Anyone know how I can contact them?
