Newport County Football Club shuts ticket office after ‘appalling abuse’ ahead of Manchester United tie | UK News

A football club has shut its ticket office after “appalling abuse and threatening behaviour”.

Newport County will face Manchester United on Sunday in a home FA Cup tie at Rodney Parade.

The League Two side said all remaining tickets for the fourth-round match would be available to purchase online only from 10am on Monday.

Tickets are limited to a maximum of two per person.

In a statement, the club said it had reached its decision after the alleged treatment of support staff during a priority purchase period on Thursday.

Newport said the club will “not condone this behaviour towards any member of its staff”.

The club will “employ a zero-tolerance policy going forward” which could see stadium bans or legal action, its statement added.

“The club’s small pool of staff has worked extremely hard across long hours in recent weeks to organise the two sell-out games against Wrexham and Manchester United,” a spokesperson said.

“The club would like to thank them for their dedication and commitment.”
